Sri Lanka Sumithrayo is a government approved charity founded in 1974, by late Mrs. Joan De Mel and was incorporated by Act of Parliament No.10 of 1986. Srilanka Sumithrayo are registered members of Befrienders Worldwide and function as a non-political, non-religious organisation focused on providing Mental Health support to help those at risk of suicide.

OUR VISION IS A SOCIETY WHEREÂ
People are able to explore their feelings without fear or prejudice People are able to understand & respect the feelings of others and fewer people die by Suicide.
We are open 365 days and our volunteers are available for ‘Face to Face’ confidential befriending, via telephone or by email at our centres, and also on ‘Outreach’ work. The opening and closing time at our centres vary. 9.00am- 1.00pm or 9.00am- 5.00pm.
There are 10 Sri Lanka Sumithrayo Centers spread across the country in addition to Sri Lanka Sumithrayo Rural Programme.
